Mudras help us to link the brain with the body, soothe pain, stimulate endorphins, change the mood and increase our vitality. Mudras have been an integral part of many Hindu and Buddhist rituals. They are used extensively in Yoga, meditation and dance.
Your little fingers activate both your heart and small intestine meridians. In addition to activating the acupuncture meridians, mudras balance the five elements of fire, air, ether or space, earth and water in your body. Your thumbs activate fire energy. Your pointer fingers activate air. Middle finger activates space, Ring finger element earth and little finger activates water.By manipulating the fingers we can increase,decrease or balance any of these elements in te body thereby creating perfect health.
It can be practiced at any time after or before eating. There are no hard and fast rule to practice Mudra. You can practice Mudra therapy even when you are talking, walking or lying on the bed. The main thing is, you have to remember that all the other fingers which are not participating to make any particular Mudra gesture, should be straight.
